Maybe set up a small-scale registry and let your parents tell your friends and family the situation, "in lieu of gifts coin and gift cards are extremely appreciated."

FH and I live in People's republic of china and nosotros didn't want to annals either. Nosotros're getting married stateside and having the gifts shipped to my parents' business firm. There they will sit, collecting dust and probably mildew in the basement for at to the lowest degree a twelvemonth until we come up dwelling house to reclaim them. It sucks, just we just didn't run into whatever other way. It'due south taboo to ask for money in lieu of gifts, at least in my community. I think if Amy is right, y'all should get your registry going now and just annals for the things you know you need. Our registry is more often than not kitchen stuff that we used to alive without, like a food processor, a mixer, and nicer identify settings.

We used www.yourweddingregistry.com - you can list anything from anywhere, and it's free. Possibly you could ask for gift cards at online retailers that you can utilise while abroad or when you get back? It is definitely taboo to ask specifically for greenbacks, merely you shouldn't be disseminating your registry info yourself anyway. Hopefully most of your guests will know your situation and understand that you can't take traditional boxed gifts with yous. Let your family and nuptials party spread the word, and and then y'all get what you get!

My FH is in the Navy too. We did non register since we honestly did not want or demand annihilation. Once you lot are married and on his orders they will allow you/ pay for a certain corporeality (based on weight). You tin can either have them do it or pay for it yourself and get reimbursed. On a side notation whenever the Navy moved FH they would lose multiple boxes and so be careful and do not bring anything that cannot be replaced.

When my BFF got married, her now husband was stationed in California for the Marines. For her shower, her mom put in the invitation something about how the couple would be moving to California and would not exist able to ship everything, so gift cards would be a adept option. I know a few of the ladies at her shower had bought items off her registry online and had them shipped to the groom in California, and but wrapped a picture of the souvenir for the bride to open at the shower.

Concord with Amy. Once you're on his orders they give you a household goods shipment also!
